| Details: It's coming! With developments including an innovative new bow mike and control panel design, an improved battery life of 10-12 hours, and quicker and more straightforward installation, the new helmet system looks set to make silent bike journeys a thing of the past.
BMW Motorrad has designed the BMW Communication System, which includes a helmet-specific installation kit, with the popular System 5 helmet in mind.
The BMW Motorrad Communication System is installed within the helmet to provide wireless communication whilst riding. This can be paired either between two helmets for communication between rider and pillion, or with another rider up to a distance of 10 metres. In addition, the system can be linked to additional Bluetooth devices such as satellite navigation, a mobile phone or music player.

| Details: Launched in October at Intermot 2008 is the new System 6 motorcycle helmet from BMW Motorrad.
As with previous BMW helmets it has the lifting chin guard but is now claimed to be lighter, more comfortable and with better ventilation.
For the first time BMW have adopted the integral retractable tinted visor as used by the helmet’s manufacturer, Schuberth, on their own brand helmets.
The System 6 comes in a variety of plain, matt & multi-colored finishes and will have a Pinlock style double glazed clear visor offered as an accessory.
We should see these arrive before riding season in 2009.

| Details: The fifth generation of the BMW System 5 is designed to be easily converted from a full-face helmet into off-road or open-face versions easily and without special tools. It's ECE-2205 approved with a glass-fibre, carbon and Kevlar outer shell. Chin and neck pads are available in various sizes to help find the perfect fit and a neck strap is included as a secondary fastening. Ventilation uses BMW's Airflow system, and the interior anti-bacterial and breathable Dupont padding is removable and washable. A wind tunnel was used to design a helmet that is stable and easier on the neck muscles and the noise levels inside the lid have been drastically reduced. At 100km/h, the noise inside the lid was measured at 86 decibels. The System 5 weighs 1690g, and comes with an anti-scratch and anti-mist visor.

The new Enduro helmet is built on a lightweight shell of combined fibreglass, carbon fibre and Kevlar for tensile strength and crush resistance. It has removable and washable head and cheek padding, and a double D-ring chinstrap with an integrated neckband to reduce the possibility of the helmet twisting in the event of an accident Two adjustable openings in the top of the helmet provide ventilation and the inner is lined with DuPont CoolMax material to ensure moisture wicking and "breathability".
